A Timeless Puzzle with a New Twist
Introducing the Oskar Key, a challenging and historically significant puzzle designed by the renowned Oskar van Deventer. Originally conceived in 1987 and based on an idea from 1984, this two-layer puzzle key was first mass-produced in metal by the Japanese Hanayama toy company. As the very first licensed design by Hanayama, it has become a sought-after collector's item, with vintage samples occasionally selling for 1000 USD on eBay.
Goal: Navigate the keys through the maze and unlock the puzzle.
Level: 7/10
To add to the challenge, a third key has been incorporated into the middle layer, increasing the complexity and providing an engaging puzzle experience for enthusiasts. The underlying mathematical concept is based on Prof. N.G. de Bruijn's Beer Bottle Problem, which proves that such puzzles are always solvable.
Features:
- Dimensions: 4" x 2.5" x 0.85"
- Material: High-quality 3D printed components
- Design: Multi-layered key mechanism for an added challenge
The Oskar Key is more than just a puzzle; it's a piece of history brought back to life through modern 3D printing technology. Whether you're a seasoned puzzler or a collector of unique designs, the Oskar Key offers a satisfying and intellectually stimulating experience.
