The chess box is a trick box by Jean Claude Constantin. There are 11 metal chess pieces that can be moved through the slotted grooves on the top of the box. The objective is to open the drawer. The chess box is a very elaborately manufactured trick box that is an absolute eye-catcher in every collection.

Great looking box, but I didn’t think that mechanism for opening the box was very clever or challenging to figure out. Once I solved it, the drawer was stuck as well, which was a little frustrating.
