Alma by Pelikan Puzzles - A Masterpiece of Intricacy by Alfons Eyckmans
Discover the Elegance of Simplicity
The Alma, a remarkable blend of Maple, Wenge, and Purpleheart, is another testament to Alfons Eyckmans' ingenuity. While the puzzle seems to be an intricate construction at first glance, it beautifully unfolds as a 6 piece burr made from L shaped plates, encapsulating the elegance of simplicity.
Kevin Sadler's Journey with Alma
“No Pelikan release feels whole without a gem from Alfons Eyckmans. The Alma, with its captivating Maple, Purpleheart, and Wenge construction, is a burr puzzle that entices with its beauty and challenge. Its seemingly complex structure belies a 6 piece burr design, making it irresistibly engaging. While the path to removing the first piece is cleverly concealed, it's a delightful journey of 10 moves. The subsequent disassembly maintains stability with a slight playful tendency for a piece to sag. After spending an hour on the disassembly, I scrambled the pieces and returned later for reassembly. It was a humbling experience to realize that my memory of the process had gaps, leading me in circles. Yet, that's the allure of the Alma – it challenges, teaches, and thrills, all at once.”

Alfons makes art from wood in the form of a puzzle
The beautiful craftsmanship, and precision built into this lovely puzzle is almost enough to put on a shelf for display alone, but it is way too intriguing for that. Great value for such wonderful wood craftsmanship.
